Aufgabe des EURYDICE-Informationsnetzes ist die Erstellung verlässlicher und vergleichbarer Informationen über die nationalen Bildungssysteme und Bildungspolitiken in Europa. EURYDICE nimmt dadurch die Rolle einer Beobachtungsstelle wahr und beleuchtet sowohl die Vielfalt der Bildungssysteme als auch gemeinsame Tendenzen . Der Dokumentations- und Bildungsinformationsdienst im Sekretariat der KMK wurde als Nationale Informationsstelle der Länder benannt, um in Kooperation mit der Nationalen Informationsstelle des Bundes an den Aktivitäten des Informationsnetzes für Deutschland teilzunehmen.
