The UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) is a non-profit, policy-driven, international research, training, information, documentation and publishing center of UNESCO, focusing on adult and continuing education, literacy, non-formal basic education and lifelong learning. The main part of UILÂ’s work is carried out on the basis of joint research projects and cooperation for advocacy and policy development with education stakeholders (researchers, practitioners, decision-makers from government, non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations and private sector researchers) in all world regions. During the last five decades, UIL has made a major contribution to the development of adult and continuing education in the framework of lifelong learning.
