The Stiftung SPI (SPI Foundation) operates as a provider of social services ranging from (school) social work, child and youth work, and projects promoting democratic development and participation to addiction counseling and prevention services. The Foundation's technical colleges offer practical training in socially relevant occupational fields. At the federal and state levels, the Foundation develops innovative, holistic solutions at the interface between (funding) policy and practice. It contributes to a society in which every individual can freely develop in a spirit of responsibility for themselves and the community. In doing so, the Foundation views social work as a means of helping people to help themselves and focuses primarily on the living environment of the citizens affected.
