The Cornelia Goethe Center for WomenÂ’s and Gender Studies is an interdisciplinary research institute at the Goethe- University Frankfurt am Main which promotes cooperation among researchers from a variety of disciplines. The CGC considers an epistemological and theoretical critique of gender, as foundation of its analytical work; it thereby focuses on the historical, social, and cultural construction of the category. By addressing ambivalences, paradoxes, as well as ruptures and nonsynchronicities of social reality, our approach to feminist analysis continues and expands the tradition of the Frankfurt School of Critical Theory. Here, the question of gender relations in the context of social, ethnic, national and cultural differences, is of increasing importance. Cornelia Goethe CenterÂ’s research profile varies with the projects and investigations undertaken by its affiliated scholars. Core themes in research and teaching are Transnational Migration and Social Movements; Social Inequality, Gender Justice and Diversity; Biopolitics, the Body and Gender; Feminist Theory and Queer Theory; Transdisciplinary Methodologies and Feminist Critiques of Science.
