The aim of the network is to offer teachers (researchers and the public) a curricular aid that may facilitate the teaching of environmental science, and the realization of practical lessons. It was established in the mid-1990s, when a new core curriculum was formulated where interdisciplinary environmental education received a more central role. There are 805 Norwegian and 83 foreign participants in the network. On the website information about activities of Norwegian schools in adopting environments nearby their locations and on the participants. A database is to a large extent linked and cross-referenced, and allows for extensive browsing of various aspects of the school project reports.
