The Rome communiqué confirms the central goals and commitments within the framework of the Bologna process. These include qualifications frameworks, ECTS, Diploma Supplement, the Lisbon Recognition Convention, quality assurance in accordance with the standards and guidelines in the European Higher Education Area, further  sustainable development and European Universities). The Bologna follow-up conference on November 19, 2020 was hosted by Italy in a virtual format.
