The German-Israeli Volunteer Service was founded in 2015, its core vision is to strengthen the German-Israeli relations on the social level in a diverse and sustainable way by letting young German and Israelis experience the other country through the lens of everyday life and their society. The German-Israeli Volunteer Service gives young citizens of both nations in the age of 18 to 27 the opportunity to explore the other country through a 6 to 12 month volunteer service. In Germany, young Israelis of all faiths and ethnic backgrounds can volunteer in German institutions in the field of social care, education, and Jewish communities. In Israel, German volunteers work in facilities for handicapped people and rehabilitation centres.
