Around the turn of the millennium, the Helmholtz Association launched its first student laboratories to encourage young people to pursue careers in science and technology. Through independent experimentation, young people – from primary school pupils to A-level students – can discover how interdisciplinary thinking and working in research actually work. The school laboratories create a bridge between school education and vocational training, thereby making a direct contribution to the promotion of young talent in the natural sciences.
