The integration of immigrants has been subject to legislation since the Immigration Act of 2005. Integration courses are considered a key to immigrant integration in Germany and accordingly, courses have been developed that provide the (adult) participants with a command of German as well as teaching them about Germany, its legal system and democratic constitution. The aim is to offer immigrants the same opportunities as their fellow citizens, and to familiarise them with social life in Germany. This revised concept, which was enacted in 2009, further integrates standardised test procedures, conditions of repetition.
The contemporary revised edition of 2013 is only available in German. The English version will be published soon.
