Ludwigsburg University of Education (LUE) is a center of excellence for educational sciences in school and pre-school education, extra-curricular education for children and teenagers, adult/further education and education in cultural and social areas. Most students study for the state teaching license and their programs cover primary and lower secondary school teacher education, special education and professional pedagogy. LUE also participates in teacher education programs for the Gymnasium (German grammar school). Students are offered scientifically based, practical programs with a strong research component. The LUE Bachelor courses link pedagogical approaches and educational sciences with extra-curricular fields of education while in the Master courses students can specialize in specific professional or research areas. The Master program in further education is offered as evening and week-end seminars for part-time students and leads to a qualification for educational management positions.
