Das Institut beschäftigt sich in seinen drei Abteilungen Berufspädagogik, Erwachsenenbildung und Sozialpädagogik mit Fragen der beruflichen Aus- und Weiterbildung, der allgemeinen Erwachsenenbildung, der betrieblichen Weiterbildung, der Organisationsentwicklung und der Benachteiligtenförderung.
