The Center for Earth Systems Research and Sustainability, in short CEN, combines the expertise of a number of institutes and units of the university. Its members include meteorologists, oceanographers, marine biologists, geophysicists, geologists, soil scientists, geographers and biogeochemists. At the same time, CEN is a part of the KlimaCampus Hamburg, formed by the University together with the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology, the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht and the German Climate Computing Centre.
