The State Institute supports and advises the Bavarian State Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs in the further development of the differentiated school system. It makes the findings of research and practical experience available to schools. In addition to the regularly recurring core tasks, the ISB signals through the definition of focus topics that it sees itself as a "thought leader" of the State Ministry in a position to draw attention to current developments, to react promptly to educational policy challenges and to develop sustainable paths, concepts and solutions. In doing so, the State Institute is oriented towards school practice, it addresses the current issues and needs of schools and also takes their difficult framework conditions into account. The current focus topics: CurriculumPLUS - implementation/task culture, transfer research - practice, digitalization, integration and schooling of refugees and young people with a migration background, language promotion, inclusion, civic education, digital education, STEM promotion.
