This edition "provides a richer array of indicators than ever before, based on more comparable and up-to-date data. The 36 indicators that are included represent the consensus of professional thinking and how to measure the current state of education internationally". The indicators are arranged into the following groups: 1) Demographic, social and economic context of education. 2) Financial and human resources invested in education. 3) Access to education, participation and progression. 4) Labour force participation of young people 15 to 29 years of age. 5) The learning environment and the organisation of schools. 6) Individual, social and labour market outcomes of education.
