The establishment of the Teacher Service Commission (TSC) was constituted in March 2006, the responsible task force was charged with the task of studying, examining and recommending the institutional structure, management and legal context of the proposed TSC whose role is to deal with the development and management of teachers in Rwanda. As a Government body responsible for all aspects of teacher education, management and professionalization, the Teacher Service Commission is central to the realization of the reforms of the teacher education, management and professionalization and enhancement of the teaching profession in Rwanda. The Teacher Service Commission aims to ensure provision of sufficient numbers of teachers for basic education, to enhance the development of educational professionals, to promote effective teacher management, to increase the status and professionalisation of the teacher work force and to formulate policies in line with the development of the teaching profession.
